During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, emerging industries such as energy conservation and environmental protection, new energy, high-end equipment manufacturing and biotechnology have put forward higher requirements for the performance of supporting plastics, such as a variety of high barrier film, electrical insulation film, battery isolation film, optical film, photovoltaic solar cell packaging film and other functional films.

In the plastic packaging industry, there are few large enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and many private enterprises. The overall scale of the industry is small. At the same time, it faces the market invasion of many foreign brands, such as German Schott Group with its strong technical and economic strength to enter the Chinese market. During the 12th Five-Year Period, our plastic packaging industry needs to be integrated, through enterprise combination, acquisition, annexation and other means, to form some large enterprises, combined enterprises, so as to push forward the industry to develop healthily.

With the rapid development of China's economy, the improvement of people's living standards and the increase of medical expenses caused by the aging population, the development of new drugs is intensified, the pace of medical security system reform is accelerated and the expansion of urban residents' medical insurance, the plastic industry will continue to maintain the momentum of rapid growth. In addition, the quality and variety of plastic packaging materials in China are obviously lower than the international level. In developed countries, plastic packaging accounts for 30 per cent of the value of plastic products, compared with less than 10 per cent in China. The next few years will be a period of rapid development of China's plastic packaging industry.

It is understood that although plastic due to good chemical stability and non-perishable, easy to cause pollution to the environment, but because of its light and beautiful, not broken, non-toxic and tasteless advantages, is still a good performance of packaging materials, the development rate is far more than the traditional paper, metal, glass and other packaging materials.
